The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman today published his response to the consultation by the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) on the draft PSI for referral of crime in prison.
It is important that prisoners, staff and visitors alike understand that prisons have a robust approach to allegations of incidents of crime in their
establishments. One way of achieving this is by ensuring that the relevant PSI meets the requirements and is fit for purpose. There is clearly scope for improvement to this proposed PSI, particularly around the need to uphold the rights of victims, regardless of their status.
